Bodymax CF415 Review – The Half Rack

If you are like me and I like to be able to push yourself to the limit when I am working out and you don’t have a squat rack then it’s time to invest in one! That’s exactly what my friend has done and invested in the [easyazon_link asin=”B000WU26HI” locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”willparrettco-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]Bodymax CF415[/easyazon_link]. My mate and I have always worked out together and as he lives a 2 minute drive from my house so we always trained in my home gym where I have a power rack. However I moved to Australia for a while and he still needed to smash his workouts out, but he didn’t have as much room to create his own home gym.

This is where this “half rack” or a half squat rack as its sometimes called beats the power racks in terms of home gym equipment. Its width/ height is adjustable and is half the weight of its power rack brothers. This makes it much easier to pack it away in between workouts so you can have your spare room back for when the in laws visit.

Bodymax CF415 Specification:

  • Adjustable width (650 mm – 1070 mm)
  • 250 Kg capacity!!!
  • Adjustable spotter catches (630 mm low – 930 mm high)
  • Boxed product weight: 38 Kg
  • Narrow width used for dips

As you can see this little beast can take a beating with a capacity of 250 Kg. That is plenty of weight for even a serious lifter! I have recently just set a new personal best and managed to squat 200 Kg and this squat rack manages with ease. It feels stable and there is no concern that the spotter catches would leave me in a heap on the floor if I can’t get out the “hole”.

If you are looking for value for money then check out the [easyazon_link asin=”B000WU26HI” locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”willparrettco-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]price[/easyazon_link] and compare it to any other power racks/ specification and it is clear you get a lot for your money!

The only concern I had about this product when my mate said he had bought one was that I like to stumble back into the power rack when squatting and not worry about missing the catches. I thought this could be an issue as you only have the variable height hook catches. However the catches are plenty large enough and as long as you have the height adjusted to suit you then there is nothing to worry about.

One point to take note of is that I think the ideal Olympic bar length to have with this half rack would be a 6 foot bar as the 7 is slightly too long and makes it slightly more awkward when loading the bar as it can go off balance. A 5 foot bar is slightly too close for comfort and you don’t want to find you get tangled up in the catches as you are trying to re-rack the weight.

I am very impressed by the Bodymax CF415, it is an amazing bit of kit and built to last at a fantastic price! I do love my power rack in my home gym but that is my personal preference and not everyone can find the space for a power rack and that is where this half squat racks versatility really pays off.
